UNREGISTERED WEAPONS

A Sermon of Encouragement Pointing to the Many Spiritual Weapons Believers Possess

Sermon Text: 2 Corinthians 10:1-6

References: Ephesians 6:12; Psalm 51:10; 1 Corinthians 13:9-12; 2 Corinthians 4:7; Luke 12:48; Romans 8:28; Proverbs 15:23

2 Corinthians 10:1-6 says … “Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: but I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”

What are the ‘weapons of our warfare’?

Weapons – tools of war. A common tool of war is a firearm.

-You have to register your firearms, but you DO NOT have to register your spiritual weapons with the bureau.

-The spirit realm is the only authorized place for UNREGISTERED WEAPONS.

-I have never heard the terms “Registered Prayer Offender”, “Registered Gospel-Spreader Offender”, “Registered Tithe-Payer Offender”, “Registered Giver of Alms Offender”, “Registered Word of God Preaching Offender”, “Registered Servant of God Offender”, or any other term associated with Kingdom of God business.

-But be careful, because when you use these UNREGISTERED WEAPONS of our warfare, there is the potential for others to become offended. John the Baptist became offended at Jesus because of earthly/carnal expectations that went unfulfilled. Matthew 11 and Luke 7 record the occurrence. Let’s take a look at Matthew’s account:

Matthew 11: “1And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities. Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.”

-Our warfare is: not with others, but spiritual.

Ephesians 6:12 says “12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

-You cannot use carnal means to fight spiritual battles.

-Conversely, you cannot use spiritual (UNREGISTERED WEAPONS) to fight a carnal (registered) war. Some things do NOT need to be broadcast. And make no mistake, this revelation …will not be televised…

What causes a weapon with mechanical pieces to jam (experience a stoppage – the unintentional interruption in the cycle of fire)?

  • Broken pieces – it is hard to function properly when you have broken pieces
  • Unserviceable components – sometimes, a particular component just needs to be replaced. David asked God for a clean heart … Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
  • Most of the time, a weapon experiences a jam because it has not been properly cleaned

-Even an unregistered weapon has to be cleaned. Just as there is a necessity of cleaning actual firearms, there is a need for the believer to BE clean so that the ‘weapons of our warfare’ can always be used in the manner in which they were intended by God without any unintentional interruptions in the ‘cycle of fire’.

-We don’t know everything that goes on around us in the spirit realm. There are some things in the realm of the spirit that it is simply not time for you to know about yet. And there are other things that we may never understand in this life, including some of the UNREGISTERED WEAPONS other believers are wielding.

In 1 Corinthians 13:9-12, Paul informs us so eloquently … “For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

-We see darkly as looking in a glass…we know in part and prophesy (speak, proclaim, declare, or foretell) in part…but then we will know…

-The question many people are asking is WHEN IS THEN???? It is an understandable question. My recommendation is that you would do all you can with NOW so that when THEN gets here you’ll be ready.

2 Corinthians 4:7 says “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”

-Scripture encourages us that we have this treasure in earthen vessels…then warns us that the glory should go to God and not to us. God is the reason that your UNREGISTERED WEAPONS don’t have to be registered.

-The knowledge that one is gifted can leave room for an unhealthy sense of pride. But we must always remember that to whom much is given, much is required. Luke 12:48 says “But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”

**** Many believers are sitting on spiritual weapons caches – UNREGISTERED WEAPONS that they are unaware of.

cache (kæ?). n. 1. a hidden store of provisions, weapons, treasure, etc. 2. the place where such a store is hidden.

-The discovery of a weapons cache can elicit a number of responses. Such a discovery can also render a number of meanings and a few questions.

  • What could the cache have been used for? If in the wrong hands, it could have been used to cause a lot of harm.
  • What can the cache now be used for? If in the right hands, it can be used to cause a lot of good.
  • Are your hands the right hands for some UNREGISTERED WEAPONS?

What does the discovery of an armory of spiritual weapons (as in today’s sermon text) mean for me as a believer called according to God’s purpose? That I can be the head and not the tail; that I can be above and not beneath; that I can be the lender and not the borrower; that I can change the world for the Kingdom of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (see Romans 8:28)

You’re already saying it. Why don’t you start believing it? You’re already talking it. Why don’t you start walking it?

Here is the verse of the day shared by Biblegateway.com. It blessed me, so I thought I would share it with you:

Proverbs 15:23 AKJV – A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

UNREGISTERED WEAPONS: You HAVE them. Now USE them!

God bless you today, and every day!
